The former Whiting Brothers Motor Hotel was the Sahara Inn in 2015 when this photo was snapped. It may be long term rentals now. The building features a folded plate roof on both the lobby and guest rooms.

A postcard from the 60's promoted the motel as having 40 units, air conditioning, a swimming pool, color T.V. family rooms, room phones, tub shower combinations. The pool has since been filled in as is becoming more and more common with these vintage motels.

Holbrook was the headquarters for the Whiting Brothers chain of gas stations and motels, they operated about 15 motels in the southwest. This is one of three motels they operated in Holbrook at various times.

Whiting Motels are located in Holbrook, Winslow, Flagstaff, Williams, Kingman and Yucca, Arizona: Barstow, California: Gallup, Continental Divide, San Fidel Interchange, West Albuquerque and Tucumcari, New Mexico; all on Interstate 40.

NOTE: This postcard appears to be from at least the late 1960s and shows the Whiting Motor Hotel from about the same angel as the photo above. Pretty hard to miss the place with the HUGE sign which brags of offering color TV.
