The Red Garter B & B Inn is located in the 1897 Tetzlaff Building that once was a saloon and bordello. The building is one of the few survivors in the "Saloon Row" section of town, several of which fell victim to fires over the years. In fact, you could say it's a bit of a hero in that regard, it having been a sort of fire-stop in some of those calamities, thanks to it's brick construction. The metal cornice is still intact and looking good.

The four guest rooms on the second floor used to be eight "working rooms" for the ladies of the night who plied their trade in the establishment in those days. The bar that used to be on the main floor survived prohibition in fine fashion, it seems like prohibition may not have been rigidly enforced in the neighborhood. Some say a friendly ghost occupies the second floor. A bakery is located on the ground floor.

The Tetzlaff building was listed on NRHP as part of the Williams Historic Business District in 1984.

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
