From 1941 to 1955 Lucy and John's Italian Restaurant occupied this site. Unfortunately the restaurant burned down. After the fire Frank and Edith Penn and the Clearman Family bought the property, rebuilt, heavily restyled the restaurant and renamed it the The Magic Lamp Inn. In the mid-1970s it was sold again to new owners who kept it for the next 37 years before retiring and leasing the business to a new operator in 2012.

The restaurant is more or less across the street from the Sycamore Inn. It is located on Foothill Blvd. just west of San Bernardino Rd.

A natural gas flame burns on the spout of the neon sign out front during the evenings. The lamp is outlined in neon tubing, the name is also lit with neon..
