The Polk-a-Dot Drive-in started in 1956 in a school bus covered with rainbow colored polk-a-dots serving fast food orders, sort of like many modern "food trucks". It moved to its current location in 1962. The drive-in is located on Front St. between N. Park Rd and Oak St. That is on the pre-1940 alignment.

x Outside the drive-in a whole gang of life-size fiberglass figures of several well known icons, including Elvis Presley, Marilyn Monroe, James Dean and of course the beloved Betty Boop wait to greet customers.

x The sign rotates while proudly proclaiming the drive-ins location on Route 66.

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
