Abraham Lincoln does a little reading while apparently waiting for his team of horses to arrive to so he can set off on another journey.

The wagon was blown over on Jan 26, 2014 by a wind that was estimated to be in the range of 50 miles per hour. It had to be restored very carefully to its previous condition because it is in the Guiness Book of World Records as being the worlds largest covered wagon.

How big is it you ask?

It's 40 feet long, 12 feet wide, 25 feet tall and weighs 10,000 pounds. The front and rear wheels are 110 and 12 feet tall respectively. Honest Abe himself is 12 feet tall.

xDavid Bentley of Pawnee, IL built the wagon and statue using steel and Illinois Oak wood in 2001. and later sold it. A local philanthropist named Larry Van Bibber purchased the wagon and donated it to the Abraham Lincoln Tourism Bureau of Logan County in 2007.

xThere is a Route 66 Interpretive Exhibit along side the covered wagon.

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
