The Log Cabin Restaurant and Service Station was built in 1926 of cedar telephone poles. The Old Log Cabin Inn is now housed in a newer building just north of the original building.

xWhen the road was realigned to a new 4-lane bypass, the building was raised and turned 180 degrees so the front door would again face the road. The restaurant seats about 45 and the only major change is the addition of a front entry in 1990. It is located on US 66 and N. 1600 E. Rd/Pontiac Rd.

The little building on the right in this photo was the original gas station. The light colored siding towards the front was an open canopy over the drive.

xThe Wayside Exhibit here is titled "The Log Cabin Inn: Turning with the Times" It is complemented with a mini motorcycle and a stylized Harley-Davidson amblem.

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
