1855 Gray Summit Hotel / Wooden Weed™2662 Highway 100, Gray Summit, MOPhone:
GPS: 38.489887, -90.816865 According to the folks who owned it in 2022 this historic little hotel was built over a two year span from 1853 to 1855 using hand made bricks. So far it seems like it served as a hotel until about 1950 before becoming a Post Office and later housing an antique shop and other businesses before becoming a private residence.

The
owners in 2022 sent me this photo is from 1904. It's a little hard to
make out but the lady on the right appears to have her hand on a baby
carriage. In front of the door on the second floor you can get a peak
at the pattern of the ornate railing.

Did
You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane
road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned
lanes are still there.
