East < GO > West

O.E. Carter & Ed Lawson opened this Mobilgas station/store in 1946. The station has seen some cosmetic changes over the years with modern windows, doors, siding and roofing. In the process of those modifications it also lost some Tudor style trim. When it opened they sold General Tires Their first station in Lebanon was only a few block west of this one and it sold Phillips 66 and is now the Orchard Hills Package Store.

It is located on the NW corner of Route 66 (W Elm St.) & Jackson Ave.

xIn later years this station became known as Colt Market (& Gas) which it was in 2013, but it looked like a used car lot when we took these photos in 2018.

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
