Historic Phelps County Courthouse

The old historic Phelps County Courthouse was completed in 1860 and went on to be used as a hospital during the Civil War. It was the Phelps County Courthouse until 1994 when the new courthouse was dedicated.

On the grounds is a monument honoring the people who served our country between 1943 - 1964. It was placed there by the American War Mothers, Phelps County Chaper and dedicated in 1964. There also is a Civil War marker telling abou the was in this county.

It was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1993

xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
