Helfrecht Motor Court

604 N. West Bypass, Springfield, MO

East < GO > West

The 1930s Helfrecht's Motor Court featured, a Conoco station and cafe in this building. There were also four cabins where travel weary tourists could spend the night. The one car garage on the cafe station building was also added later. The gas pumps stood in front of the single entry door. This site is on Hwy. 160 ( N West Bypass) & W. Waddil St. on the East side, just a block or so north of Danny's Service Station. The cabins are gone, but stood approximately just behind and to the left of the two car garage in this photo. That garage is a later addition to the property.

The neon is long gone, but the word COURT is still faintly visible behind the words Pawn Shop.

xThe Helfrecht family home still stands next to the old cafe / gas station building.

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
