The Oleson-Crane Building at 721 Manvel was constructed in 1901 by A.B. Oleson and was once known as the "Racket Store". Later is was sold to Schuyler Crane who operated it as a grocery store. In 1984 it was still owned by Crane's daughter. The first floor housed side by side businesses that along with the second floor all shared a single main entrance.

The Wolcott Building at 725 Manvel was built in 1903 for Dr. Alfred Jerome Wolcott and housed the City Drug Store from 1903 to 1941. The lower floor has been restored as close as possible to its original appearance. An annex was built at the rear side in 1922. The first floor of this building had been restored in the mid-1980s.

Both buildings were added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
