The Lincoln County Museum of Pioneer History now occupies this building. Hours are limited so call ahead if you want to visit. 1-405-258-2425

The building was formerly known as the Murphy Building and was built in two different years. The north half was built in 1898 and the south half in 1897. At the top is a semicircular stone with the dates 1897 & 1898 on it.

The building was constucted by A.E. Mascho who operated it as a grocery store until 1913 when he sold it to John Franklin and Ella Murphy who continued runing it as a grocery store.

In 1920 a tiny brick Public Privy was built behind the building. The little privy is about fifty-six inches square. It featured a seat-activated flushing system that was patented by Sir Thomas Crapper in 1891.

The property was placed on the NRHP in 1984 as the Murphy Building. In 1993 it was changed to the Mascho Building and Public Privy- #84003127

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
