The old Rock Island bridge is home to a couple of cool murals that were dedicated in 2012.

xThese two murals are on the bridge abutments where Route 66 (Sunset Drive) passes under the Rock Island railroad tracks between Miles and Ellison Avenues. The mural above depicts three American classic cars from the 50's and 60's. The mural is titled "Small Town Weekend" which is a community event that takes place in El Reno on the first Friday and Saturday of June each year. The signature on the mural reads Chris Small.

x This mural shows a Union Pacific and Rock Island locomotievs flanking a steam engine With the title "Building America - 150 Years" The signature on this mural also reads Chris Small.

xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
