Guest Inn / Chateau Inn

In 2024 the Guest Inn occupied the 1963 Chateau Inn. Dick McCall and Melvin Hatley, owners and builders of the new Chateau Inn and Restaurant, held an open house at the motel on April 7, 1963 so the public could stop by and see what the new 37 room motel and restaurant had to offer.

The invitation in the local newspaper included a bit of description of the decor which included "... natural rock walls, lantern lighting, beautiful furniture, multi-colored carpets and both radio and TV in each room". The motel also featured a swimming pool in the courtyard. The 1964/65 AAA Tour Book lists room rates here as ranging from $6.50 to $10.50 plus a bit more for more than two people.

In October of 1994 the old Chateau Inn became the Scenic 66 Motel and celebrated by holding a ribbon cutting and open house attended by several city officials and chamber of commerce members.

When it became the Guest inn is still a mystery to me, but the photo at the top of this page is from 2013..

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
