The 28 unit former Sun-N-Sand Motel and the adjacent Maverick Cafe started
life in September of 1953. By 1964 the motel was for sale. The motel later
became the Sun and Sand Motor Inn under the ownership and operation of
the Glancy's. In 2017 it was the Route 66 Inn.
At least in the early days the motel used a couple of tag lines,
"It Costs No More To Have The Best"
          and
          "We Have Everything But You"

That heated swimming pool and guest amenities used to be located in
the grassy area behind the sign. Many smaller motels have removed their
          swimming pools in recent years.

NOTE: The first postcard states the motel was new in 1953. I
don't have a date for the second postcard, but there is a 1960 Chevrolet
in the image on the front. Compare this image with the photo above it
and notice the building right behind the sign. That building seems to
have been the location for the recreation room, sun deck and access
to the pool and Caddie Carl. It wasn't part of the original complex
and it's gone now. It's interesting that the postcard features a photo
of the dining room, but the promotional description on the back says
a lot about the motel the only mention of the restaurant is it's name.
That's not a typo where it says "and Beautifully Different"
That's how the card actually reads.
