Just down the street from Boots Court is the family friendly Pancake Hut. We eat here pretty much every time we visit Carthage and have always been happy doing so. The cafe was reportedly previously the Alamo Cafe, and later a Peter Pan Ice Cream store, before becoming the Pancake Hut.

There is an early 1950s Chicago Coin's Band Box on display inside that came from the old Red's Cafe. Red's was located at the intersection Garrison and Central just steps from where the Boots Court is. The bandbox has been at home in the Pancake Hut since 1979 having been traded for a juke old box. The band box has had some restoration work. Some of the band members got old and deteriorated (I know the feeling) along the way and have been replaced with similarly sized musicians and the backdrop was replaced.

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
