The McLean-Alanreed Museum occupies a 1920 building on Main Street that once house four separate businesses. The museum was established in 1969. Like many other local museums along Route 66, this one has limited hours.

xThere are a couple of murals in the museum windows.

xThe murals are worth a look even if the museum is closed due to its limited hours.

A couple of other notable building were located across the street on the same block. On the left in this photo is the 1914 O-Dell Hotel which became the Hindman Hotel in 1916 and next to it is the 1936 Avalon Theater, both torn down since this 2012 photo. The theater closed in the 1980s.

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
